Special Event Organizers have a legal duty to comply with the Health and Safety Act. To ensure that all work undertaken as part of the Special Event must be controlled in such a way that a legal level of safety performance standards are established, thereby limiting potential legal and/or business risks.
Our senior management team pinpoints areas of concern and potential problems or situations before preparing evacuation plans and an instruction document. This will ensure that all key personnel will be up to date with their responsibilities for crowd management, customer care and evacuation procedures for your event.
Tholo Risk Consultants will do random spot checks throughout the construction phases of the project, after the completion of the Special Event, there will be a walk-through inspection performed of the facility, this inspection will be documented and filed.

The overall objectives of the disaster management plan are:
» To localize the emergency and, if possible eliminate it, and
» To minimize the effects of the accident on people and property.
The primary purpose of the emergency plan is to control and contain the incident and so to prevent it from spreading to nearby areas. It is not possible to cover every eventuality in the plan and the successful handling of the emergency depends on appropriate action and decisions being taken on the spot.
The following ethics support the health and safety policy and set out those areas of activity which are essential to achieving the aspirations of the policy.
- Lead by example
People at all levels at special events have responsibility for their own health and safety and should set an example for others. Management is accountable for health and safety and managers will demonstrate leadership of health and safety through personal example.
- It's worth not taking the risk
We will identify the hazards and risks associated with our activities starting with major risks. We will put in place appropriate control measures and challenge them in the context of change, so that we aim for continuous improvement.
- Understanding is the key to safe behavior
We will ensure that all contractors are professionally skilled and qualified for their jobs and thereby can contribute to an improved health and safety performance. We will assess the preferred contractors; who can demonstrate competence and effectiveness.
- It could have been avoided ... try telling the kids that
We will ensure event-related incidents and near-misses are reported, investigated and analyzed to prevent recurrence. Our investigations will focus on root causes and recommendations will be shared and implemented across the Company.
- I wish I'd said something ... I feel so responsible
Everyone at special events are responsible for sharing good practice as well as learning from near-misses. Sharing experiences with others can help prevent incidents. We all have a duty to intervene.
- A good relationship is based on trust
Our health and safety standards apply equally to contractors and Tholo Risk Consultants employees. We believe our joint venture companies should aspire to the highest health and safety standards.
- There's always room for improvement
We will establish systems for tracking event performance. We will monitor behaviors at all levels to ensure we create a successful health and safety culture at all events.
